Faith & Fellowship

Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals

We seek out the church for blessings and a connection to God during these major life passages.
If you are interested in getting married in the church, or in having yourself or other family members
baptized (we do infant, child or adult baptisms), please contact the pastor. God made us diverse
and wonderful in many ways. McFarland UCC is an Open and Affirming Church, and we are happy
to plan and host celebrations for many different types of families.

Educational Opportunities for Adults

Feed Your Mind, Feed Your Faith - Like to read? Want to talk about it? The McFarland UCC Book Club welcomes you! We read books with faith and social justice themes. Sometimes fiction, sometimes autobiography, sometimes other types of nonfiction. Discussions are advertised at the McFarland House
Café, on our events calendar, and through the McFarland Thistle.

Sunday Morning Bible Chat
- Come early for an easygoing conversation about the week’s scripture lesson.
No special expertise needed. Just ordinary people sharing  what strikes them about the lesson of the day.

Intergenerational Fellowship

All-church outings
- We like to have fun! Many members and friends of this church enjoy the same things you do: spending time in the outdoors, enjoying the arts, shopping at the farmer’s market, and the many other activities our area has to offer. These outings are published to our email list and announced in Sunday worship. Come with us, and bring a friend.

Coffee
Time before worship - Calling all introverts! Is the idea of “coffee hour” overwhelming? Looking for some one-on-one conversations to get to know people? Gather around the tables in fellowship hall between 9 and 10 am for a smaller-scale introduction to the church. Nothing formal, just a cup of coffee and casual chatter. We’d love to meet you and your family.

Table Fellowship
– If it’s a celebration, then we’ll be serving something good to eat. At our Mardi Gras Potluck, enjoy brightly colored beads, brass and a traditional New Orleans king cake as well as delicious dishes contributed by church members. At our Easter breakfast, enjoy a hearty meal and joyful conversation    with new friends and old, no charge, before joining us for a festive, music-filled service.
