Join the campaign to end child separation at the border.
|
This group, started by members and friends of McFarland United Church of Christ in McFarland, WI, is open to people of all faiths, spiritual perspectives and worldviews who are committed to compassion, justice, kindness and love. Our government has separated hundreds of immigrant children from their parents upon arriving at the border. These families are often fleeing horrific violence and crippling poverty, and parents are doing everything they can to protect their children by coming to the United States. Taking these children from their parents is inhumane, unnecessary, and unacceptable. It is easy to feel powerless when confronting an issue like this. We feel strongly about giving a voice to those who agree with us. We demand that all children must be reunited with their families and sponsors, and that the current practice of separation and detaining immigrant children and immigrants of all ages must end immediately. This will no longer be done in our name! Not In Our Name!!

RAICES Webinar this Monday!
8:00 pm, September 21, 2020
ICE is forcibly sterilizing immigrant women inside of Irwin Detention Center. This is not only horrific and gut-wrenching, but a violent transgression to human rights.
Thirteen women detained inside Irwin Detention Center in Georgia have bravely shared their experience of being forcefully and unwillingly given hysterectomies. According to reports, these women were shackled, sedated, and unconscious while these procedures occurred without their informed consent.
This news has come to light thanks to Dawn Wooten, a courageous Black nurse and mother of 5 who put everything on the line to ensure this injustice occurring inside Irwin Detention Center was exposed.
We will not let ICE get away with yet another violent transgression against our community and our values as a nation of immigrants. We need you to act now by joining a webinar this Monday, September 21st at 8pm CT/9 pm EST to learn how you can participate in a national call to action against ICE.

Webinar Re-Showing: "Stories from the Border"
6:30 - 8:00 pm, September 29, 2020

Are Children Still in cages at the U.S. Borders?
The webinar that the NION campaign hosted, together with the Wisconsin Immigration Justice Task Force earlier this summer, was a resounding success. The recording of the webinar has been edited and turned into a resource that other conferences are now using as well.
We are going to host a re-viewing of this webinar on Tuesday, September 29th, from 6:30— 8:00 p.m. We’ll include the zoom link for this webinar in the Pulse newsletter and also right here on our website.
This webinar features Immigration Justice “experts” Rev. Randy Mayer and attorney Linda Zuba. Linda has committed to being with us again for questions and updates after we view the webinar. We are hoping Randy will join us as well. A lot has transpired regarding immigration justice since we first held this webinar, and much of the news is quite disturbing. We will look forward to renewing our understanding of what is going on, and to selecting some specific actions we will take to respond with compassion, justice, and love.
