"No matter who you are or
where you are on Life's Journey
you are WELCOME here!"
Greetings! Welcome to your first glimpse of McFarland United Church of Christ. We're glad you're here!
McFarland United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming Church. It welcomes you and everyone to come explore the faith, and to struggle with how to live that faith in an ever changing world. Here you will find old and young alike speaking and living what they believe.
It is a joy to serve among people who have such enthusiasm about God and what God is doing in their lives and in the world. I would invite you to come and see for yourself the welcome you will receive. Come and see the faith that is proclaimed and lived by the people of McFarland United Church of Christ. Come and see how good God truly is!
I believe experiencing that extravagant welcome that Christ offers first hand will let you know that what we believe is true. No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey you are welcome here!
So look us over. Read about the many mission projects, the bible studies, the choir and everything else that goes on here at church. Then join us as we worship God on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. (9 a.m. June-August). We're conveniently located in the heart of McFarland (5710 Anthony St.), just minutes from the Beltline off Stoughton Road (South on 51), and minutes from Stoughton.
We hope you'll agree that McFarland United Church of Christ is a place where the Love of God lives in its people and its welcome. Remember: "Jesus never turned anyone away, and neither do we."
Peace!
Pastor C. Wayne Shannon

News and Updates
2/22/09 - Dennis Ureche called to be Pastor and Teacher at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Labadie, Missouri
I have been called to be pastor and teacher at Pilgrim UCC in Labadie, MO. Here is their website http://www.uccwebsites.net/pilgrimucclabadiemo.html. The website is not as fancy as McFarland’s but it works for them. It is a very small congregation, about 45 members, about 40 minutes west of St. Louis. They are just up the road from Purina Farms. They cannot afford a full-time pastor so they have hired Eden students for the past six years to serve for two years. I still need to negotiate starting date, etc. I will be licensed for all the duties that a pastor would do.
I am very excited about this opportunity. It was great to hear everyone cheering when I talked with Wayne. I cannot begin to tell you in words what the support of McFarland UCC has meant to me on this journey. I look forward to having you all along as a continue.
This does mean I will be in school an extra year. I will cut back on my class load to allow me time to serve Pilgrim. Diane, Kelly and I talked about this and decided along with a lot of prayer that this is where God is calling me at this time. With everybody’s help we can make it all work.
I promised that this would be a short note so I will close now. Peace and blessings to you all.

1/11/09 - WAGS comes to McFarland United Church of Christ
Henna, a service dog from Wisconsin Academy of Graduate Service Dogs (WAGS),
visited the Sunday School students at McFarland United Church of Christ on Sunday, January 11, 2009.
Henna, accompanied by Aaron Backer, Executive Director of WAGS,
came to thank the students for their fundraising efforts in support of WAGS.
WAGS raises and trains service dogs to increase the ability of individuals
with disabilities to independently execute functional, daily living skills,
increase attendance in daily life events, and improve outlook on life, with the
aid and support of a highly trained service dog.
For these people, a WAGS dog can provide needed physical assistance by retrieving dropped and out of reach items,
opening and closing doors, operating light switches, and tugging off articles of clothing.
The Sunday School class chose WAGS as their service project in 2008. They
raised money and supplies for the dogs in the WAGS program. Both the students
and the adults enjoyed meeting Henna and learning more about the WAGS program.
