The Wednesday "Midweek Inhale" is still happening online every week!
Midweek Inhale - Spiritual Practices Group (6:30pm, Wednesdays) at this link: https://zoom.us/j/123020606
Midweek Inhale is a program Pastor Bryan has started at our congregation. The
whole purpose is to encourage us to learn about and develop personal “spiritual practices” that help deepen our spiritual lives. “Inhaling” refers to ways in which we receive or “breathe in” God’s Spirit and nurture our own inner journey and relationship with God. We gather promptly at 6:30, establish an atmosphere of openness and reverence, and then learn and experience a specific practice. March 4 - Guided MeditationWe begin this new weekly gathering with a very simple and well known practice called "guided meditation."
More from Pastor Bryan: This simply means that I’ll lead you in a mediation in which you will use your imagination to enter a biblical story and have a conversation in your imagination with Jesus. This can be extremely powerful, healing, and even life-changing. We’ll end promptly by 7:30 each week.
March 11 - Centering PrayerThis week we will focus on Centering Prayer, which is a form of meditation very similar to Buddhist meditation. Anyone who has been drawn to the “mindfulness
meditation” movement will find Centering Prayer to be meaningful in a very similar way. We will watch a video (about 20 min) in which Father Thomas Keating, who is largely responsible for introducing this ancient meditative Christian practice into contemporary culture, will teach us the practice. We will then experience the prayer together, and we will end no later than 7:30. This is a very simple spiritual practice that anyone can easily learn and that has been life changing for countless spiritual seekers. We hope you’ll let some of your friends who for whatever reason can’t be with us on Sunday mornings know about this week’s offering and this new midweek spiritual program at our congregation. |
