Sunday Sermons
3-19-23 Sermon: "The Meaning of the Cross, Pt. 3-- The End of 'Might Makes Right'"
This message focuses on what theologian Walter Wink referred to as "The Myth of Redemptive Violence," and makes the point that the Cross of Christ is pretty much the opposite of "might makes right." Jesus confronted injustice and religious hypocrisy with no other "weapons" than love, truth, and the willingness to suffer and die if necessary. I talk about how hard this message is to fully embrace, let alone live out in our personal lives or in the so-called real world.
